Gut Check ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your email address and a hashed password when you create an account.
- Session data: the dilemmas you submit, your yes/no/maybe responses, and the AI-generated recommendations produced for each session.
- Journal entries: any notes, tags, and outcome ratings you add to your decision journal.
- Subscription data: billing status managed through Stripe. We do not store full payment card details.
- Usage data: basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps) used for security and debugging.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the Gut Check service.
- To generate AI decision analysis using Anthropic's Claude API. Your dilemma text is sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that processing.
- To manage your subscription through Stripe.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. receipts) if applicable.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Anthropic — to generate AI responses to your gut check sessions.
- Stripe — to process subscription payments.
- Railway / hosting providers — to run our servers. Data is stored in the United States.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes all your sessions, journal entries, and personal data from our systems.
Security
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We use JWT tokens stored in device secure storage for authentication.
Children's Privacy
Gut Check is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by deleting your account in the app or contacting us at support@gutcheckdecision.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
